BRUSH up: Bacteria Research UCSF/Stanford Study of Hyposalivation is not-for-profit research group conducted by the Relman Lab at Stanford University in collaboration with clinicians at UCSF. We seek to define the role that saliva plays in maintaining human oral health. We are particularly interested in understanding how reduced salivary function, or hyposalivation, impacts human oral microbial communities, predisposing patients who experience chronic hyposalivation, to oral disease. Our purpose is to gain knowledge, and make it freely available, so that we and others can develop new effective interventions for improving health and treating oral disease.
